Two Hamilton County senior girls are being considered for a chance to play in one of the most prestigious high school basketball games in the country.
Carmel’s Amy Dilk and Noblesville’s Emily Kiser are among the seven Indiana girls that are on the list of nominees for the 41st annual McDonald’s All American Games. The nominees, which total more than 700 boys and girls in the United States, were announced on Wednesday for the game, which takes place Wednesday, March 28 at Philips Arena in Atlanta.
The top 24 boys and top 24 girls that will be on the final rosters will be announced on Tuesday.
Dilk has helped the Greyhounds to consecutive appearances in the regional championship game as a sophomore and a junior. This season, Carmel is ranked No. 1 in Class 4A with a 19-1 record. Dilk is all over the stat line, averaging 16.8 points, 7.1 assists, 5.9 rebounds and 4.1 steals per game.
“Amy is very deserving of this nomination,” said Greyhounds coach Tod Windlan. “She will leave Carmel High School as No. 1 or 2 in career points, No. 1 in assists and steals and has over 500 career rebounds. She is the best point guard in Indiana. She could average a lot more in points but is so unselfish and makes us a better team with her passing and court vision. Dream player for a coach.”
As a freshman, Kiser played on the Millers team that reached the regional championship. Since then, she has been a leader for Noblesville. This year she’s averaging a double-double of 19.5 points and 12.9 rebounds per game, along with 3.6 assists and 2.0 blocked shots.
“Emily has had an incredible career,” said Millers coach Donna Buckley. “She has helped lead our program to a four year record of 69 wins and 26 losses while also scoring over 1,000 points and grabbing nearly 900 rebounds. She is a great leader, great teammate, and hard worker.
Buckley said the best thing about Kiser is that she is “an amazing person who is very humble and fun and an absolute joy to coach.
“I am incredibly excited for her to be nominated to the McDonald’s All American game,” said Buckley. “It is a very deserving honor.”
Both Dilk and Kiser have committed to play at the University of Michigan.
