Hamilton County Meals on Wheels released a report Friday on its activities during 2020. Beth Gehlhausen, the organization’s director, says a total of 56,810 meals were delivered during the past year; an average of 4,671 each month.
Delivery of two meals per day, five days a week are available to any county resident who is elderly, disabled or housebound. The meals are delivered by 428 volunteers who offer their services a few days each month.
Last year, 362 residents were served throughout the county, although about 40 percent are in Noblesville. Clients pay according to their financial ability.
Funding last year amounted to $633,901, of which about $232,000 came from grants, with the remainder coming from clients, donations, and other sources.
Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County, founded in 1975, is a non-profit organization designed to help those in need of daily meals to remain living independently, according to Gehlhausen.
