50th annual girls basketball sectional pairings announced

On Sunday evening, the IHSAA announced the sectional pairings show for the 50th annual IHSAA girls basketball state tournament.

Throughout the four classes, 391 schools have their sights set on the ultimate prize of a state championship.

For the second time in three years, Noblesville will host the Class 4A Sectional 8, welcoming Carmel, Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern, Westfield and Zionsville to The Mill.

Hamilton Heights heads down to play in Class 3A Sectional 24 at Connersville. That six-team field playing at the historic Spartan Bowl includes the host Connersville, along with Delta, Jay County, Yorktown and New Castle.

Guerin Catholic will also play in 3A, but in Sectional 25 at Lebanon. Aside from the host Tigers, the seven-team sectional also features Brebeuf Jesuit, Tri-West, Frankfort, Crawfordsville and Danville.

Sheridan hosts the 2A Sectional 39 field that brings in Frankton, Lapel, Elwood, Tipton and Taylor to Larry Hobbs Gymnasium.

University heads down to Monrovia in 2A Sectional 42. The Trailblazers’ potential opponents are the host Bulldogs, Park Tudor, Cardinal Ritter, Indianapolis Riverside and Covenant Christian.

Below are the pairings for the nine Hamilton County schools. Sectional play starts on Tues. Feb. 4 and Wed. Feb. 5 with the semifinals on Friday, Feb. 7 and the championship games on Saturday night Feb. 8.

Class 4A Sectional 8 at Noblesville:

Tuesday: 

Fishers (13-7) vs. Hamilton Southeastern (21-0)

Carmel (9-11) at Noblesville (17-3)

Friday:

Zionsville (9-11) vs. Winner of Fishers/HSE

Westfield (14-8) vs. Winner of Carmel/Noblesville
