Fishers Arts Council (FAC) and Jiffy Lube of Indiana invite you to see the incredible talent Hamilton County has to offer at the fifth annual Juried Exhibit of Hamilton County Artists. A total of 35 artists are represented in this exhibit at the Art Gallery at City Hall, located in the Fishers Municipal Center, 1 Municipal Drive.

Artists hail from Fishers, Noblesville, Carmel, Westfield, Cicero, and right along the edges of Hamilton County in Indianapolis and McCordsville, showcasing a wide range of painted mediums. Awards will be given for Best Landscape, Portrait or Figurative, Abstract, and Floral or Other, along with Best in Show which wins a $1,000 cash prize and a solo exhibit in the gallery in January 2025. These awards are made possible by sponsors, including new supporters Wasson Nursery for the Best Landscape award and Noblesville Creates for the Best Portrait or Figurative award.

The winners have been decided by Dan Annarino of West Lafayette. He received his BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and his MA from Purdue University. He has taught at Purdue, worked commercially as a graphic designer for print and video production, and later as a graphic designer for Purdue. He continues working as a full-time artist, maintains a studio in Lafayette, and exhibits his paintings throughout the Midwest. He is also a board member and past president of the Indiana Artists’ Club, and a member of the Hoosier Art Salon and the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette, as well as an exhibiting artist in many shows throughout the Midwest.

When Annarino is asked to judge a show, he has criteria that he believes in and follows.

“The usual standards apply,” he said. “My number one criterion is creativity – pushing the boundaries and taking chances. And, of course, the usual elements: originality, use of media, technique, composition, mood, presentation. That said, it’s a judgment call and can be tricky digitally choosing a show.”

However, the choosing of prize-winning art pieces in the Juried Show are always done in person.

But you get to be the judge for the People’s Choice Award, also sponsored by Noblesville Creates. Go to Facebook.com/FishersArt to see the full 2024 Juried Exhibit photo album and click the “like” button on your favorite artwork. You can also vote in-person in the Art Gallery at City Hall through Sept. 13 during gallery hours listed below and the Second Friday reception and awards ceremony on Sept. 13. Voting will be open from 6 to 7 p.m. and awards will be announced at 7:15 p.m.

The Juried Exhibit of Hamilton County Artists is on display through Sept. 28 and can be seen Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Second Friday receptions are from 6 to 8 p.m. each month and are always free and open to all ages. September’s Second Friday musical guest is the band Laughing Jack and is sponsored by the Fishers Arts + Culture Commission.
