As the holiday season surrounds everyone with joy and love, the hearts of staff and volunteers at the Humane Society for Hamilton County (HSHC) are heavy, burdened by the reality that 12 extraordinary pets still have no place to call home.
“These sweet souls haven’t been overlooked because of who they are,” Community Engagement Manager Lily Darling said. “They’ve been overlooked because the right person hasn’t come along yet. This holiday season, we ask the community to open their hearts and homes to these 12 amazing pets. They’re not just waiting – they’re hoping for a miracle, and they need you now more than ever.”
Adoption fees are waived for the Featured 12 animals highlighted in the Home for the Holidays Adoption Special. Adoption of the six featured dogs will include a free training package catered to the dog courtesy of Paws & Play Dog Resort & Training Center, while adoption of the six featured cats will include five nights of free boarding courtesy of PetSuites Fishers.
All pets adopted from HSHC are spayed/neutered, microchipped, have at least one round of age-appropriate vaccinations, come with a starter bag of food, and a complimentary wellness exam with one of our participating veterinarians.
“The shelter should never be where these animals spend the holidays,” Darling said. “They deserve to wake up in a home, safe, loved and surrounded by people who will cherish them for the rest of their lives. This is not just a plea for adoption – it’s a lifeline.”
